ALGIERS- In the context of his official visit from October 24th to October 27th in Algeria, Brahim Bouderbala, President of the Assembly of the Representatives of the People (Tunisian Parliament), engaged in a series of productive discussions with several Algerian government ministers led by Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane.
These discussions presented a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on bilateral cooperation and explore avenues for further development across a wide spectrum of sectors, including energy, higher education, scientific research, and industry.
Following meetings with key Algerian ministers, namely Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Mines, and Kamel Baddari, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, President Bouderbala held a crucial meeting with Ali Aoun, Algeria’s Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production. This meeting, which was attended by the Tunisian Ambassador to Algeria, yielded positive outcomes and set the stage for a stronger Algerian-Tunisian partnership.
Both sides emphasized that the necessary conditions for industrial integration between the two nations are in place, heralding the prospect of new and promising opportunities for collaboration, as conveyed in a statement by the Ministry of Industry.
During this significant meeting, the two leaders underscored the paramount importance of adhering to defined priorities, with a special emphasis on the pharmaceutical industry. They stressed the need to draw lessons from the challenges experienced by several countries during the COVID-19 pandemic, underlining the call for enhanced future coordination and the revitalization of the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on locally manufactured inputs.
Ali Aoun highlighted the imperative of bolstering partnerships in sourcing raw materials, which form the cornerstone of the pharmaceutical industry.
Additionally, both parties seized the occasion to advocate for the development of border regions and the intensification of industrial partnerships across all sectors.
President Brahim Bouderbala emphasized the collaborative approach to further advancing cooperation in these vital sectors. He called for efforts to mitigate difficulties and streamline procedural, administrative, and technical aspects while acknowledging the role of legislative functions in achieving the strategic objectives of Algerian-Tunisian cooperation.
The discussions held during President Bouderbala’s visit underscore the commitment of both nations to expanding their cooperation. With a focus on industrial integration, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, the stage is set for Algeria and Tunisia to pursue shared goals and leverage their strengths for mutual benefit. The prospect of closer collaboration and shared advancements across multiple domains highlights the growing partnership between these North African neighbors.
