Algeria-Tunisia: Inauguration of First Session of Joint Commission for Development of Border Areas

ALGIERS- The inaugural session of the joint Algerian-Tunisian commission for the development of border areas commenced on Monday in Algiers, with the presence of the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Brahim Merad, his Tunisian counterpart, Mr. Kamel Feki, and a significant delegation from both countries.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister of the Interior emphasized that the establishment of this commission dedicated to the development of border regions is part of the implementation of the vision and agreements signed between the two countries during President Tebboune’s visit to Tunisia.
Mr. Merad highlighted the strategic nature of this commission, aiming to identify opportunities for effective partnerships between the two nations. He proposed several initiatives to enhance cooperation between Algeria and Tunisia in developing the border zones. Mr. Merad urged the leaders of the bordering wilayas (administrative regions) with Algeria to prioritize operations that boost travel to Tunisia. Additionally, he called for the implementation of a joint strategy to combat natural disasters.
The joint commission signifies a commitment to fostering collaboration and mutual development in the border regions, further strengthening the historic ties between Algeria and Tunisia. This initiative reflects the shared determination to unlock the full potential of the border areas for the benefit of both nations.
