Foreign Ministers Attaf and Fidan chair the 3rd Algerian-Turkish Planning Committee, paving the way for enhanced investment in energy, infrastructure, and textiles.
Algiers, Algeria | April 21st, 2025 — In a resounding affirmation of the deepening strategic partnership between Algeria and Turkey, Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, announced that bilateral trade between the two nations has reached an all-time high of $6 billion. The figure, revealed during the third session of the Algerian-Turkish Planning Committee held on Monday, marks a historic milestone in economic cooperation between the two countries and underscores their growing alignment in key strategic sectors.
Speaking at the event, which took place at the El Aurassi Hotel in Algiers, Minister Attaf emphasized that this exceptional achievement was the result of a clear and determined vision spearheaded by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The two leaders have played a crucial role in fostering comprehensive and multidimensional cooperation, elevating the bilateral relationship into what both sides now describe as a model partnership within the region and beyond.
“The trade figures we are witnessing today reflect an upward trajectory that has never been reached before. And yet, they are only the beginning,” Attaf stated. “Considering the promising investment opportunities available, we are confident that this volume will continue to grow substantially.”
Minister Attaf highlighted several strategic sectors where Algeria and Turkey are poised to expand their cooperation, notably public works, steel, and textiles. He also pointed to emerging investment opportunities in the vital domains of energy and renewable energy, which are set to play a central role in both countries’ development strategies and sustainability agendas.
On the sidelines of the committee session, Minister Attaf held high-level discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The two diplomats reiterated their shared commitment to deepening cooperation across multiple domains, including economic integration, cultural exchange, political dialogue, and security collaboration.
In his official remarks during the joint session, Attaf stressed that Algerian-Turkish relations “cannot be reduced to mere economic or political ties.” He characterized the partnership as “comprehensive and integrated,” aimed at building sustainable bridges of cooperation that serve the aspirations and strategic priorities of both nations.
The third session of the Algerian-Turkish Planning Committee, co-chaired by Attaf and Fidan, marks a pivotal moment in the bilateral trajectory of Algiers and Ankara. The proceedings of the session are expected to translate into actionable initiatives and joint projects that will further solidify the foundation of mutual trust and shared vision between the two nations.
