Algeria, UAE committed to give appropriate impetus to priority areas of cooperation

ALGIERS– The Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zaghdar and the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah Al-Marri will co-chair, on Friday in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), the work of the 15th session of the Algerian-Emirati Joint Commission, said a statement from the Ministry of Industry.

“The Minister of Industry, Mr. Ahmed Zaghdar and the Minister of Economy, Mr. Abdullah Al-Marri will co-chair the work of the 15th session of the Algerian-Emirati Joint Commission to be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 in Abu Dhabi. (United Arab Emirates),” the statement read.

The preparatory meetings for this session, at the level of experts, took place on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi, under the chairmanship of the Director General of Arab Countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Noureddine Khendoudi on the Algerian side, and the head of offices and commercial representations at the Ministry of the Economy, Hind Youha on the Emirati side, in the presence of the Algerian ambassador in Abu Dhabi.

During this meeting, the heads of the two delegations underlined the depth of the historical strategic bilateral relations which reflect the ties of brotherhood uniting the two sisterly countries. The two parties also expressed the will of the governments of the two countries to establish new economic and investment partnerships in the priority sectors, which will be at the center of the debates of the joint commission, noting the need to implement the recommendations of the latter with a view to boosting the economic growth of the two countries.

The committee of experts debated, for three days, issues related to cooperation and partnership relations between the two countries in the economic, commercial, financial and technical fields, and examined the draft legal texts aimed at energizing and strengthening the bilateral cooperation in several vital areas of common interest.

As part of his visit, Mr. Zagdar held a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, during which both sides underlined the depth of the historical strategic bilateral relations which reflect the common denominators and the deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood between the two countries.

On this occasion, emphasis was placed on the importance of identifying the main areas of cooperation to be submitted to the joint commission, being a platform capable of qualitatively promoting economic and trade relations and raising them to higher levels. The pivotal role of the commission was also highlighted, particularly in defining priority cooperation sectors for the next stage.

Mr. Zagdar, on his part, highlighted the dynamism of the Algerian economy, especially with regard to investment, thanks to the far-sighted vision of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

In turn, the Emirati minister renewed his country’s readiness to give the appropriate impetus to cooperation between the two countries.
