Algeria, UK Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Issues in Call Between Foreign Ministers

Algiers, Algeria | August 14th, 2024 — On Wednesday, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, engaged in a phone conversation with David Lammy, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing pressing regional and international issues.

Politically, the conversation included a detailed exchange of views on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. Both ministers agreed on the necessity of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza as a crucial step toward de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.

The discussion also touched upon recent developments in the Sahel-Saharan region. Attaf and Lammy deliberated on strategies to promote peace, security, and development in this critical area, reflecting their shared commitment to addressing regional challenges through collaborative efforts.
