Algiers, Algeria | September 30th, 2024 — In a significant stride toward modernizing Algeria’s media landscape, Minister of Communication Mohamed Laagab presided over a high-level meeting in Algiers on Monday to unveil two key digital projects: the “Algerian Media Gateway” and the new website for the National Documentation, Press, Image, and Information Center (CNDPI). These initiatives align with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s strategic vision for enhancing the nation’s digital infrastructure and media accessibility.
The “Algerian Media Gateway” will serve as a comprehensive digital platform, granting users worldwide seamless access to both public and private Algerian media outlets. This project reflects Algeria’s commitment to digital transformation, offering a unified portal that will promote global media engagement and increase the visibility of Algeria’s media institutions.
The second initiative, the CNDPI’s revamped website, will provide access to a wide range of services, including graphic arts, archival restoration, bookbinding, and the sale of historical photographs. The CNDPI website will also feature national event coverage, exhibitions, and conferences, reinforcing its role as a central institution for media and cultural heritage preservation.
Both the Media Gateway and the CNDPI website are scheduled for an official press unveiling on October 22, 2024, coinciding with Algeria’s National Press Day. These projects represent a cornerstone of the government’s broader digitalization agenda, aimed at enhancing media accessibility, promoting transparency, and expanding Algeria’s international media reach.
