Algeria, Venezuela Strengthen Energy Ties in Preparation for 7th GECF Summit

ALGIERS- In a virtual meeting held on Thursday, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, engaged in discussions with the Venezuelan Minister of Petroleum, Pedro Rafael Telechia, as part of the preparations for the upcoming 7th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Algeria.

The meeting, attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela to Algeria and the Algerian Ambassador to Venezuela, focused on enhancing and developing relations and exchanges in the energy and mining sectors. Both parties delved into topics such as refining, maintenance, and explored avenues for collaboration in the mining industry.

Among the key points of discussion were strategies to strengthen cooperation through the exchange of experiences, emphasizing a shared commitment to bolstering ties in the energy and mining sectors. The ministers expressed satisfaction with the existing level of dialogue and collaboration between the two nations, particularly within the OPEC framework and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. Their collaborative efforts aim to contribute to the stability of global oil and gas markets in the mutual interest of producers and consumers.

As both countries prepare for the 7th GECF Summit to be hosted in Algeria, Minister Arkab and Minister Telechia discussed ongoing preparations for the high-profile event. They commended the positive dialogue and coordination between their nations, emphasizing its role in advancing shared goals for market stability.

Minister Telechia expressed Venezuela’s keen interest in strengthening cooperation with Algeria, particularly in bolstering economic consultations and exchanging experiences to implement concrete projects, especially in the energy sector. The collaborative spirit demonstrated in the virtual meeting sets the stage for productive engagements between Algeria and Venezuela, further solidifying their partnership in the energy and mining domains.
