Algeria, a North African nation, is eager to infuse fresh vitality into its longstanding collaboration with Vietnam. In pursuit of this shared objective, Algeria’s Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, and his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Van, jointly presided over the 12th commission meeting held in Hanoi, uniting their nations in a dynamic partnership.
As disclosed in a press release by Ali Aoun’s office, the primary focus of the ministerial representatives was to evaluate strategies for fortifying their bilateral relations, particularly within the sphere of commerce. The discussions are set to explore novel prospects in the domains of partnership and investment, as attested by the same source.
Vietnamese Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi has emphasized the significance of this encounter, highlighting its role in promoting mutual cooperation and camaraderie between the two countries. Algeria presents a promising market for Vietnamese goods and services, positioning itself as a potential trade partner of remarkable importance. In Africa, Vietnam’s exports rank fourth.
In 2022, the trade value between Algeria and Vietnam soared to $144.2 million, with Vietnamese exports accounting for a substantial $141 million of the total. The pivotal point in their economic relationship appears to be the thriving oil and gas sector.
In parallel, collaboration between the two nations is flourishing across various sectors, including agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and information and communication technology—a trend strongly advocated by the Vietnamese side. According to reports in the Vietnamese press, Minister Nguyen continues to emphasize the need for further strengthening of collaboration in these domains.
Minister Ali Aoun also acknowledged the enduring and positive alliance between Algeria and Vietnam, which has spanned over six decades, nurtured through the years to yield fruitful outcomes in multiple domains. In this light, he expressed his keenness to propel economic ties with the Indochinese nation to even greater heights.
He emphasized that the commission meeting serves as an opportune platform for representatives of both ministries to engage in discourse and proffer solutions for diversifying the array of collaborative activities between their respective countries. The mutual commitment to fortify their cooperation embodies a promising future for the enduring partnership between Algeria and Vietnam.
