ALGIERS- An agreement of cooperation was signed on Saturday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research between Algeria and Zambia, focusing on the exchange of expertise and the development of partnership in the education sector between the two countries.
During the signing ceremony, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, emphasized that the aim of this agreement is to establish an effective partnership through the development of university training programs between Algeria and Zambia, as well as the exchange of expertise, students, and supervisors.
Baddari highlighted that currently, 67 Zambian students are pursuing their higher education studies in Algerian universities, with 44 enrolled for the current academic year.
Through this agreement, both countries intend to establish twinning between their universities through the “development of joint training programs” and the “issuance of Algerian-Zambian diplomas,” explained Minister Baddari.
The agreement also includes the transfer of Algerian experience in the field of scientific research, focusing on “innovation and contribution to national economic development and wealth creation,” he added, underscoring Algeria’s role in supporting, especially African countries, in achieving prosperity.
On his part, Zambian Minister of Education, Douglas Munsaka Syakalima, commended Algeria’s efforts in developing higher education and scientific research, noting that the agreement “will enable his country to benefit from Algeria’s successful experience in this field.” Mr. Syakalima also expressed his wish to see the partnership between Zambia and Algeria expand to other areas in the future.
