ALGIERS- Bulgaria’s Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev held, on Tuesday, a meeting with Ambassador of Algeria to the country Baya Bensmail.
During the meeting, both parties noted the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries, which celebrated their 60th anniversary last year, while expressing their readiness for further deepening cooperation.
One of the main topics at the meeting was the strengthening of communication with the Embassy of Algeria in order to optimize the procedures for border control of Algerian citizens arriving at Sofia Airport. The possibilities for providing information in advance regarding necessary documents and conditions for staying in Bulgaria were also discussed, the Interior Ministry said.
Ambassador Bensmail expressed gratitude and assured that at the end of her mandate she retains warm friendly feelings towards Bulgaria.

During the conversation, the prospects for activating an exchange of visits were discussed, with the aim of expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The need to make additional efforts aimed at building on the existing solid foundation of relations and deploying to the maximum extent the currently unrealized significant potential in the field of economic cooperation was also noted.
