ALGIERS- As part of an African tour, the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, Santiago Cafiero, is expected in Algeria on June 4 and 5. “We are opening new markets for Argentinian products. In the coming months, businessmen from our country will be accompanied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on trade missions to Algeria, Egypt, South Africa and Angola,” Santiago Cafiero revealed on his twitter account.
According to the schedule of this African tour, these trade missions will take place on June 4th and 5th in Algeria, June 7th and 8th in Egypt, June 19th and 20th in South Africa (Johannesburg) and June 22nd and 23rd in Angola.
During the holding, November 2022 in Algiers, of the 7th session of political consultations between Algeria and Argentina, the two parties examined the means of strengthening bilateral relations and their promotion at the highest levels, and this, given the common interests and significant potential that the two countries harbor. The two parties also agreed on the imperative to intensify high-level visits between the two countries, in addition to the holding of new sessions of the Intergovernmental Committee and the bilateral scientific committee at the start of next year.
It should be noted that the tour of the head of Argentine diplomacy falls within the framework of the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone. To do this, the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke, last week, with his Cape Verdean and Nigerian counterparts. As the Foreign Ministry reported in a statement, Africa as a whole currently accounts for around 7% of Argentina’s total trade with the world, and the country has large trade surpluses with these states.
