Algeria – April 9, 2024- The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) announced in a statement released on Wednesday the arrest of 8 individuals suspected of supporting terrorist groups.
These arrests were made during operations conducted by units of the People’s National Army (ANP) across several wilayas of the country from April 3 to April 9.
During the same period, ANP elements successfully apprehended 26 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 639 kilograms of treated cannabis across the border with Morocco.
Furthermore, joint operations with various security services resulted in the seizure of 1160 grams of cocaine and 9586 psychotropic tablets, highlighting the significant efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
The coordinated efforts of security forces demonstrate Algeria’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability by addressing both terrorism and drug trafficking activities within its borders.
