Algiers, Algeria | August 4th, 2024 — On August 4, 2024, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune led the National Army Day observance at the National Army Circle in Beni Messous, Algiers. This significant event paid tribute to retired members of the People’s National Army (ANP) who served in the Algerian Liberation Army (ALN), alongside the families of national martyrs and major disabled veterans injured in the fight against terrorism.
Warm Reception and Distinguished Attendees
Upon his arrival, President Tebboune was greeted with full military honors by General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the ANP. The ceremony saw the presence of an esteemed array of officials, including the Speaker of the Council of the Nation, the Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, the Prime Minister, and the President of the Constitutional Council. Also in attendance were presidential advisors, government ministers, and senior military officials.

In his address, General Chanegriha expressed profound appreciation for President Tebboune’s steadfast support and recognition of the ANP’s pivotal role throughout Algeria’s history. During the ceremony, President Tebboune awarded honorific certificates to retirees, families of martyrs, and major disabled veterans. These recognitions celebrated the enduring contributions and sacrifices made by these individuals. Additionally, similar ceremonies were held across various military regions, where certificates of appreciation were presented on behalf of the President.
