Algiers, Algeria | February 20th, 2025 — In a resolute and meticulously executed counterterrorism operation, a detachment of the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) successfully neutralized a high-profile terrorist on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in the dense forested area of Chankoura, Kaf Chergui, within the jurisdiction of the First Military Region in Médéa. According to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense, the operation was launched as part of ongoing search and sweep missions aimed at dismantling terrorist networks still operating within national territory. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, a tactical scope, and various other materials, reaffirming the military’s effectiveness in cutting off terrorist elements from their resources.

The Ministry’s statement further emphasized that this decisive action reflects the army’s heightened vigilance and relentless pursuit of terrorist operatives across Algeria.
