ALGIERS- In a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism, Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) units successfully eliminated a terrorist in the wilaya of Medea on Sunday, recovering a cache of weapons and ammunition in the process, as announced by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) in a press release.
The operation, conducted as part of the broader counterterrorism efforts, took place in the area of Al-Thaniyah Al-Kahla within the military sector of Médéa/1st Military Region. According to the press release issued by the MDN, on April 21, 2024, a detachment of the People’s National Army engaged and neutralized the terrorist identified as “Khattar Amhamed,” also known as “Ismail.”
The successful operation resulted in the recovery of a significant arsenal of weapons and equipment used by the terrorist. The recovered items include one (01) submachine gun, one Kalashnikov assault rifle, three (03) ammunition magazines, one (01) telescope, and other associated objects.
The ANP’s decisive action in eliminating the terrorist threat underscores the commitment of Algerian security forces to combatting terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the nation and its citizens. This operation demonstrates the ANP’s continued vigilance and effectiveness in addressing terrorist activities within Algerian territory.
