ALGIERS- The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) released a statement on Wednesday, reporting significant achievements in ongoing operations conducted by the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) from March 13th to March 19th.
The MDN announced the capture of a terrorist in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, along with the arrest of 15 individuals providing support to terrorist groups. These arrests were part of coordinated operations carried out by ANP units across multiple provinces of Algeria.
During the same period, ANP forces intercepted 27 drug traffickers and successfully prevented the smuggling of 546 kilograms of processed cannabis at border areas with Morocco. These operations, conducted in collaboration with various security service entities, underscore Algeria’s commitment to combating drug trafficking and securing its borders.
Furthermore, the joint efforts of the ANP and security services led to the seizure of 9,586 psychotropic tablets, further disrupting illicit activities and safeguarding public health.
The MDN’s announcement highlights the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability in Algeria, demonstrating the ANP’s proactive approach in combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
