ALGIERS- The Algerian People’s National Army, known as ANP, released its latest weekly report on the ongoing battle against terrorism and organized crime within the country and at its borders.
In the realm of counterterrorism efforts, the ANP’s report highlighted the successful apprehension of seven individuals who were found to be supporting various terrorist groups across the nation. These arrests were made during separate operations conducted throughout the country.
Additionally, the ANP’s report shed light on the interception of a significant drug shipment originating from Morocco. A total of seven quintals of drugs were seized, further bolstering the fight against organized crime.
Furthermore, the ANP reported the apprehension of 69 drug traffickers and the thwarting of multiple attempts to smuggle seven quintals and 49 kilograms of processed Hashish across the Moroccan border.
In a commendable display of their dedication, the ANP also confiscated a staggering 16,814 kilograms of cocaine and 158,117 hallucinogenic tablets.
Moreover, ANP detachments stationed in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tindouf, and Djanet successfully apprehended 64 individuals and seized 39 vehicles, 149 generators, 109 hammers, and 60 quintals of raw gold and precious stones.
The army’s relentless efforts also led to the confiscation of explosives and equipment utilized in illegal gold prospecting operations, as well as substantial quantities of contraband products.
