Algerian Assembly Speaker Welcomes Departing Cuban Ambassador Armando Vergara Bueno, Affirming Enduring Friendship, Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

ALGIERS- Mr. Ibrahim Boughali, Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, extended, today, in Algiers, a warm welcome to Mr. Armando Vergara Bueno, the departing Cuban Ambassador to Algeria, as he concluded his diplomatic mission in the country. Their meeting aimed to bolster bilateral relations and reaffirm the mutual respect and solidarity between Algeria and Cuba.
During their discussions, Speaker Boughali praised the exceptional and longstanding relations between Algeria and Cuba, emphasizing the dignified stances taken by both nations throughout their shared history. He highlighted the significant cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the healthcare sector, and expressed optimism for further collaboration in other areas.
Speaker Boughali also called for closer ties between the legislative bodies of Algeria and Cuba to enhance parliamentary friendship, given their shared perspectives on many international issues.
Echoing Algeria’s unwavering commitment to global just causes, Speaker Boughali reiterated the importance of respecting international treaties and refraining from interfering in the internal affairs of other states. He recalled his meeting with the Cuban delegation during the 148th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, underscoring the significance of parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations.
Both sides emphasized their commitment to continuous dialogue and communication through parliamentary friendship groups established by the Algerian and Cuban parliaments. They also stressed the importance of coordinating positions in international parliamentary forums to serve the common interests of their peoples and foster closer ties.
Ambassador Bueno expressed his pride in representing Cuba in Algeria and thanked the Algerian government for its support during his tenure. He praised the strong and historical relations between the two countries, particularly Algeria’s steadfast support for Cuba, including its stance against the economic blockade imposed on the island nation by the USA. He affirmed that the bond between Algeria and Cuba is deep-rooted, enduring, and will continue to be a source of pride for both nations.
