Algerian Chief of Staff, Saïd Chanegriha, Strengthens Bilateral Ties during Visit to China

ALGIERS- During the second day of his visit to the People’s Republic of China, General of the Army Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, embarked on a series of significant engagements, further solidifying ties between Algeria and China.

The highlight of General Chanegriha’s itinerary included a visit to the Astronaut Center in Beijing, where he had the opportunity to inspect the technological and logistical capabilities of the center, including the tools utilized by astronauts. The General explored an exhibition showcasing key milestones in the development of the Chinese space agency, along with technological innovations proposed by various Chinese entities, promoting activities related to space exploration and satellite communications.

At the Alit Industrial and Military Complex, Saïd Chanegriha conducted a meeting with complex officials, emphasizing the evolving strategic cooperation between Algeria and China. In his address, he stressed the importance of continuing collaboration and experience exchange to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

Earlier in the day, the Chief of Staff was received at the headquarters of the Central Military Commission by General of the Army Liu Zhenli, Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China. Military honors were presented, and a comprehensive military briefing was provided to General Chanegriha.

Following the national anthems of both countries, General Chanegriha reviewed the squares of different Chinese armed forces, which presented military honors. Subsequently, an extended meeting with delegations from both countries took place. During this session, Saïd Chanegriha expressed profound gratitude for the warm reception extended to him and his accompanying delegation.

In his address, General Chanegriha highlighted the longstanding and excellent relations between Algeria and China, dating back to the glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954. He emphasized China’s early support for Algeria’s struggle for self-determination and its recognition of the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic in 1958.

General Chanegriha underscored that the robust ties between Algeria and China reflect common solidarity for sovereignty, independence, and the recovery of sovereign rights. He noted that these ties remain relevant in the current global landscape, emphasizing the need for justice, freedom, and cooperation in a multipolar world.

The discussions provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on matters of mutual interest and explore avenues to strengthen military and security cooperation. The visit signifies the commitment of Algeria and China to deepening their historical ties and fostering collaboration in various strategic domains.
