Algerian-Chinese Business Forum in Oran: Signing of Over 15 Partnership Agreements Boosts Economic Ties

Oran, Algeria –In a remarkable demonstration of bilateral cooperation and economic synergy, the Algerian-Chinese business forum in Oran witnessed the signing of more than 15 partnership agreements between Algerian and Chinese companies. The event, which drew participation from over 80 companies, marked a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two nations. The forum, which took place yesterday, was graced by the presence of Li Jian, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Algeria, along with top executives from the Algerian ministries of industry and commerce.
The collaboration agreements encompassed a wide array of industries, including construction, telecommunications, steel and metal processing, paper and cardboard manufacturing, plastic packaging, footwear, leather goods, and telecommunications. These partnerships signify a commitment to fostering economic growth, technological exchange, and job creation.
Maghni Menaouer Sandid, director of fishing and fishery products for the wilaya of Oran and rapporteur of the workshops, highlighted the key sectors covered by the agreements. He noted, “These agreements were signed in the construction, telecommunications, subcontracting, electricity, pharmaceuticals, and processing industries.”
Ambassador Li Jian emphasized the fruitful history of Chinese companies participating in Algeria’s projects, especially in large infrastructure development. He praised the business and investment-friendly climate in Algeria, which has contributed to these successful collaborations. Furthermore, Ambassador Li Jian spoke of untapped potential in various sectors, stating, “There are still numerous sectors where we can work together, such as agriculture, fishing, telecommunications, and the automobile industry.”
The Wali of Oran echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the city’s attractiveness for investment. He remarked, “Oran is a very attractive city due to its economic, industrial, and tourist potential, along with abundant available land.” Notably, Oran boasts 1,000 hectares of industrial land ready for immediate allocation.
Saïd Sayoud, speaking at a press briefing, outlined the compelling advantages that Oran offers to investors. These include a dependable energy supply, an international airport, three major ports, an extensive road network, a robust industrial base poised for expansion, and a skilled workforce. He stated, “We aim to further develop the two industrial zones of Bethioua, home to the Tosyali iron and steel complex, and Tafraoui, where the Fiat automobile production plant is located.”
The Algerian-Chinese business forum in Oran serves as a testament to the ever-growing economic collaboration between the two nations. With the signing of these pivotal partnership agreements, Algeria and China are poised to capitalize on their shared potential and continue fostering mutually beneficial ventures across diverse industries.
