Algiers, Algeria | July 18th, 2024 — The foundation of the Algerian-Chinese industrial partnership is firmly rooted in the transfer of modern technology, according to the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, Li Jian. His remarks came during a visit to Condor Electronics’ facilities in the industrial zone of Bordj Bou Arreridj.
In a statement to the press, Ambassador Li emphasized the long-standing economic relations between China and Algeria, which have evolved significantly over more than 40 years through various partnership agreements between Chinese and Algerian companies.
“This partnership transcends mere commercial transactions,” Li stated. “It focuses on transferring modern technologies to enhance Algerian products in home appliances and electronics industries, enabling Algeria to establish its local brands and dominate regional markets.”
Ambassador Li engaged extensively with Chinese workers at the facilities, lauding Condor Electronics as a prime example of how Algerian companies are continuously evolving and mastering modern technologies.
Condor’s Strategic Vision and Upcoming Projects
Abderrahmane Benhamadi, CEO of the Condor Group, highlighted that the ambassador’s visit aligns with Condor’s policy of showcasing its economic partnerships, particularly with countries that have strong economic and partnership relations with the group. Benhamadi emphasized Condor’s strategic vision for medium and long-term development.
Mohamed Daâs, Director of Condor, announced that the refrigeration compressor production project, in collaboration with China, is slated to begin by the end of 2024. This project, which was recently committed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during the 55th Algiers International Fair, will feature environmentally friendly designs.
The compressor project, requiring nearly $100 million in investment, is expected to create 500 jobs and produce 4.7 million units annually. Of these, 3 million units will be exported, generating $100 million per year.

Ambassador Li Jian noted that the economic relations between China and Algeria are not only expanding but also becoming more diverse through these industrial and technological partnerships. The focus on technology transfer is poised to elevate Algerian industrial capabilities and support sustainable economic growth.
New projects and investments with Chinese partners will be announced in due time, reflecting the continued commitment to bilateral cooperation and technological advancement.
