Algiers, Algeria | July 8th, 2024 — The Algerian Consulate General in Brussels marked the 62nd anniversary of Independence and Youth Day with a commemorative event attended by the Algerian community from the Charleroi region. The event, part of a series organized by the Consulate General to honor this significant national milestone, underscored the spirit of unity and celebration among Algerians living abroad.

The Consul General hosted the community gathering on July 7, 2024, in Brugge, West Flanders, as part of efforts to connect with Algerian expatriates residing in the region. This initiative aimed not only to commemorate Algeria’s Independence Day but also to strengthen ties with the diaspora and foster a sense of cultural pride and solidarity.

During the event, attendees reflected on the historical significance of Algeria’s independence, which was achieved on July 5, 1962, after a long struggle against colonial rule. The gathering provided an opportunity for Algerians in Belgium to come together, share experiences, and reaffirm their commitment to preserving Algerian heritage and national identity.

As Algeria continues to commemorate its independence annually, events like these serve as a reminder of the shared history and aspirations of the Algerian people, both at home and abroad. The Consulate General’s proactive approach in organizing such events underscores its commitment to fostering unity and solidarity among Algerians worldwide.

Glory and eternity to our martyrs… Long live Algeria
