Algerian-Cuban privileged relations: Algerian Health Minister received by President Miguel Díaz-Canel

ALGIERS- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received, yesterday at the Palace of the Revolution, Health Minister Abdelhak Saihi who set off for Cuba at the head of a delegation, including in particular Ms. Ouahiba Hadjoudj, Director General of Pharmacy and Health Equipment at the Ministry of Health, and Fawzi Derrar, Director General of the Pasteur Institute of Algeria, to take part in the 23rd session of the joint Algerian-Cuban commission for economic and commercial, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and within the framework of the Algeria-Cuba Business Forum held in Havana.
On the occasion, the Cuban President transmitted his warm greetings to the President of the Republic Abdelmajid Tebboune and to Prime Minister Aïmene Benabderrahmane, with whom he had fraternal exchanges during his stay in Algiers between November 16 and 19.
“Their presence in the first months of the year in our country demonstrates all the mutual desire to advance our relations on the basis of the fruitful conversations we had during my visit to Algeria and meetings with President Tebboune”, declared the First Secretary of the Party Central Committee. “We attach great importance to this visit, with two very relevant moments, the intergovernmental commission – after a stoppage due to the Covid-19 pandemic – and the Business Forum in which a large delegation of Algerian businessmen participates,” said the Head of State of the Greater Antilles. Therefore, he summed up, “we attach great importance to these two events to deepen our relationship”.
Referring to his stay in Algeria, the Cuban President highlighted the decisions taken then, in particular the cancellation by Algeria of interest on the Cuban debt, the donation of a solar power plant to Cuba and the cooperation agreements.
For the Cuban President, this Session should be an extension of these agreements. For his part, the Minister of Health transmitted to the Cuban President, the “fraternal greetings of President Tebboune” while specifying that “President Tebboune urged him to intensify bilateral meetings”. In this vein, the Minister of Health held meetings with the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investments, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, the Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, and the Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy. The Minister will meet today with Finance Minister Meisi Bolaños Weiss, Health Minister José Ángel Portal Miranda, and Minister-President of the Central Bank of Cuba Marta Sabina Wilson González.
