Algiers, Algeria | August 12th, 2024 — On Monday, the Algerian delegation that took part in the Paris 2024 Olympics arrived back in Algiers, greeted by a jubilant reception following their remarkable accomplishment of securing three medals, including two golds. The delegation, consisting of the medal-winning athletes and their support teams, was warmly welcomed at Houari Boumediene Airport by Abderrahmane Hammad, the Minister of Youth and Sports, alongside prominent civilian and military officials.
The Algerian team concluded the Paris 2024 Olympics with a historic performance, amassing a total of three medals—two gold and one bronze—matching the country’s best-ever performance from the Atlanta 1996 Games. This achievement represents a pivotal milestone for Algerian athletics on the global stage, showcasing the nation’s growing prominence in international sports.
Among the standout performances, gymnast Kaylia Nemour achieved a gold medal in the uneven bars competition, demonstrating exceptional skill and artistic excellence. Boxer Imane Khelif earned gold in the 66 kg weight class, impressing with her remarkable strength and technical prowess in the ring. Additionally, middle-distance runner Djamel Sedjati secured a bronze medal in the 800 meters, underscoring his endurance and speed.
