ALGIERS- Just as they have barely begun, the spring break holidays will not be extended. Scheduled from March 21 to April 7, 2024, the date for the resumption of classes will be adhered to, as confirmed by the top official of the sector.
Indeed, Minister of National Education Abdelhakim Belabed, questioned at the People’s National Assembly (APN) by Deputy Rabah Djeddou about the possibility of extending the school break until after the end of Eid al-Fitr, responded by affirming that this option had not been considered, adding, “In the education sector, every day is important and valuable for students. Three days in the school life are significant, especially for those preparing for end-of-year exams in various cycles. Spring holidays are scheduled until April 7, and the resumption is maintained for that day and must take place as agreed.”
According to the minister’s statement, no changes are planned, and everything that has been said and reported is therefore untrue. By providing such clarifications, Belabed put an end to the rumors that have circulated in recent days about a possible extension of the holidays.
Belabed satisfied with 2nd trimester results
During this plenary session at the APN dedicated to oral questions, Belabed commented on the results achieved during the second trimester and seems to be satisfied. On this subject, he stated, “Good academic results were recorded during the second trimester.” Seizing this opportunity, the top official of the sector took the opportunity to salute “the efforts made by education personnel to achieve these results.”
Questioned about the project for the status and indemnity regime of specific bodies within the national education system, Belabed responded by assuring that this project “will bring new gains,” emphasizing the interest shown in this issue by the President of the Republic. The top official of the education sector also recalled that the President of the Republic had ordered at a cabinet meeting on February 18, “the postponement of the presentation on the status and indemnity regime of specific bodies within the national education system in order to improve its content, taking into account that the teacher is an educator before being a civil servant.”
