Algiers, Algeria | July 12th, 2024 — The Algerian Embassy in Beirut hosted a commemorative ceremony marking the 62nd anniversary of Algeria’s Independence and Youth Day, drawing participation from ambassadors of Tunisia and Palestine, alongside members of the Algerian community residing in Lebanon.
Celebrating Achievements and Heritage
Ambassador Rachid Belbaki underscored Algeria’s remarkable progress in recent years, particularly in enhancing security and stability. He emphasized the importance of honoring the legacy of the valiant Chouhada (martyrs) and expressed deep pride in Algeria’s cultural heritage and national identity. Ambassador Belbaki reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting its consistent advocacy in international arenas.
Cultural Performances and Community Engagement
The ceremony featured a compelling theatrical performance titled “Ghinaiyat El Djazaïr,” directed by Fouad Rouaissia. The play resonated deeply with the Algerian community present, showcasing Algeria’s rich cultural tapestry and historical narratives.
Further enriching the cultural ambiance, poets from Algeria, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria shared their literary works, celebrating the interconnected cultural bonds and expressing solidarity through poetry.
Engaging the Youth
A highlight of the celebration was a cultural competition designed for children, who enthusiastically performed patriotic songs such as “Min Adjlika Ichna Ya Watani” and “Min Djibalina.” The young participants also united in singing the national anthem, fostering a profound sense of national pride and belonging among the next generation of Algerians.
