Algerian Energy and Mines Minister Arkab Hosts Delegation of Major U.S. Industry Leaders

ALGIERS- Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, welcomed representatives from prominent American energy and mining companies, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Hecate Energy, ARC Energy, NESR, REASOL, Philippe Group Mining, and others, during a meeting held on Tuesday.
The discussions centered around the current state of cooperation between Algerian and American firms in the energy and mining sectors, emphasizing prospects for enhancing their collaborative efforts.
Both parties expressed their commitment to intensify cooperation, exploring various opportunities within the energy and mining domains. Minister Arkab underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between Algerian and American companies in the oil and gas sector.
Highlighting Algeria’s development strategy, Arkab emphasized the need for increased investments to boost oil and gas production and processing. He presented significant investment and partnership opportunities in exploration, development, and hydrocarbon exploitation, along with opportunities in petrochemicals, digitization, technological solutions, emission reduction, and carbon footprint reduction.
Minister Arkab seized the opportunity to express Algeria’s desire for mutually beneficial partnerships, leveraging the advantages offered by the new hydrocarbons law. He reaffirmed the Algerian government’s commitment to supporting partners at every stage of investment implementation.
In addition to fossil fuels, discussions also delved into significant cooperation and investment prospects in the field of renewable energies, hydrogen development, the national seawater desalination program, and the local equipment industry in this sector.
Emphasizing Algeria’s commitment to better harness its mining heritage, Minister Arkab called on American companies to invest in Algeria’s mining sector, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with Algerian firms. He encouraged knowledge transfer and training, especially in research, exploration, mineral resource valorization, and the development of the mining sector in Algeria, particularly in rare earths.
