ALGIERS- Invited by the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Energy and Mines Minister Mohamed Arkab is participating starting this Sunday in the G7 Ministerial Conference on Climate, Energy, and Environment, held from April 28th to April 30th in Turin, Italy.
According to a statement from the ministry, the conference is attended by ministers of energy, climate, and environment from the G7 group, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom, as well as a representative of the European Union (EU), other invited countries, numerous officials, experts, and CEOs of various global energy companies, particularly European ones.
The discussions in this ministerial meeting are a continuation of the G7’s work in the fields of climate, energy, and environment, similar to its last meeting last year in Sapporo, Japan, under its presidency, to support the strategic links between energy choices and climate and environmental policies to address various global challenges.
Establishing a Safe, Sustainable, and Affordable Energy System
The focus will be on “strengthening the interconnection and complementarity of measures collectively taken to address crises caused by climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, as well as to establish a safe, sustainable, and affordable energy system to achieve overall prosperity for all.”
The statement also mentions that discussions will include “exploring new pathways for energy supply and large-scale renewable energy development, as well as the role that Mediterranean countries in general, and Italy in particular, can play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, decarbonization, and growth in the global South.”
