“Algerian exports in textile and leather amounted to $31.86 million in 2022,” Trade Minister says

ALGIERS-  The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, supervised the inauguration of the first edition of the National Exhibition of Textile Products, Clothing and Shoes, held at the “SAFEX” Palais des Expositions, from 10 to April 19, indicated, Monday, a press release from the ministry published on its Facebook page.

The Minister also supervised the signing ceremonies of four (4) contracts between two Algerian importers of the same brand of clothing, with the company of textile industries TAYAL, with a view to manufacturing these brands for the first time in Algeria.

Minister Zitouni confirmed that Algerian exports in the textile, leather and footwear sector amounted to $31.86 million in 2022.

He stressed that “the priority today is to develop a detailed mapping of the textile and leather industries sector in order to know the real production capacities of each product separately, with the aim of determining the percentage of domestic demand that is not covered”.

The Minister also invited all Algerian and foreign economic operators to invest in this buoyant sector.
