Algiers, Algeria | June 25th, 2024 — Charged by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf arrived in Vienna, Austria, on Tuesday for an official visit. Additionally, Attaf will engage with representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). These meetings will focus on nuclear energy cooperation, non-proliferation measures, and advancing the peaceful uses of nuclear technology. This engagement highlights Algeria’s commitment to nuclear safety and sustainable energy solutions. Furthermore, discussions with the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) will review commitments and progress in enforcing the nuclear test ban, emphasizing Algeria’s dedication to global disarmament and non-proliferation efforts.
On the bilateral front, Minister Attaf will engage in a critical working session with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg. This session will explore various avenues for enhancing economic cooperation and trade between Algeria and Austria. The discussions will aim to identify new opportunities for economic collaboration, streamline trade processes, and support mutual investments, fostering a robust economic partnership. Political dialogue will also be a key focus, with both ministers exchanging views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
