ALGIERS – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, arrived in Tunis yesterday evening, serving as the special envoy of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. This diplomatic mission is part of a continuous effort by the leaders of both fraternal countries to assess the significant momentum in Algerian-Tunisian relations and provide the means of support to realize their ambitious vision of giving an exemplary character to these strategic ties, according to a statement from the ministry.
As the bearer of a message from President Tebboune, the head of Algerian diplomacy is expected to be received by Tunisian President Kaïes Saïed on Friday, the ministry’s statement added.
It’s worth noting that this visit comes two days after the inaugural meeting of the Algerian-Tunisian bilateral commission for the promotion and development of border areas. Furthermore, it occurs just days before the Summit of Heads of State of the High-Level Committee on Libya, scheduled for February 5th in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo. The committee, currently chaired by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, includes Algeria, South Africa, Congo-Brazzaville, Ethiopia, Egypt, Niger, Mauritania, Sudan, Tunisia, and Uganda.
