Algerian FM Attaf Embarks on Official Visit to the Central African Republic

Algiers, Algeria | January 05th, 2024 — In his capacity as Special Envoy of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Algeria’s Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, arrived in the capital of the Central African Republic (CAR), Bangui, on Sunday evening for an official visit. This high-level diplomatic mission aims to enhance the longstanding relations between Algeria and the Central African Republic while addressing key challenges within the African continent.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visit is part of Algeria’s ongoing efforts to inject new momentum into its diplomatic engagement with the CAR. The mission focuses on deepening bilateral relations, fostering enhanced coordination, and discussing pressing regional issues that are expected to shape upcoming continental decisions.

During his stay in Bangui, Minister Attaf is expected to meet with Central African Republic’s President, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, to deliver a written message from President Tebboune. The visit will also include a working session with the Central African Foreign Minister, Sylvie Baïpo-Temon, to explore avenues for collaboration on various matters of mutual interest, particularly regarding the challenges facing Africa as a whole and the collective efforts required to address them ahead of the upcoming continental milestones.

This visit underscores Algeria’s ongoing commitment to playing a proactive role in the African Union, promoting regional stability, and addressing the continent’s shared challenges through diplomacy and cooperative action.
