Algiers, Algeria | May 21, 2024 — Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a telephone conversation this Tuesday evening with his Portuguese counterpart, Paulo Rangel, as announced by the ministry in a statement.
During the discussion, Ahmed Attaf extended his congratulations to his Portuguese counterpart on his recent appointment as the head of the diplomatic corps of his friendly country. He also reviewed with him the upcoming bilateral engagements, which are part of the implementation of the outcomes of the state visit conducted by the President of the Republic to Portugal last year.
Furthermore, the two ministers exchanged views and analyses on international and regional issues of common interest, particularly the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories amidst the ongoing Zionist aggression against the Gaza Strip.
Mr. Attaf expressed Algeria’s appreciation for the honorable position of the Portuguese Republic on the Palestinian issue and commended its vote in favor of the decision of the General Assembly regarding the full membership of the State of Palestine in the UN.
