ALGIERS- Speaking at a press conference in Algiers on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmed Attaf reiterated Algeria’s unwavering and principled stance on the Palestinian issue.

The Algerian Foreign Minister affirmed that the Palestinian question remains at the forefront of Algeria’s priorities and diplomatic efforts: “We have advocated for criminalizing the occupier and putting an end to the policy of impunity, returning it to the realm of international legitimacy,” he stated.

Reviving the Political Process

During the conference, Mr. Attaf recalled President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to focus diplomatic efforts on reviving the political process after a 25-year freeze and impasse:

“Today, it is important to prioritize international legitimacy to revive the peace process in the Middle East and achieve a permanent and definitive solution,” he declared, emphasizing Algeria’s continued support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds as its capital.

Continuing his remarks, Mr. Attaf stressed the need to combat forced migration projects affecting the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip:

“We must also encourage all initiatives to hold the occupier accountable before national and international courts. Additionally, we must denounce projects aimed at dividing the Gaza Strip and ensure respect for Palestine’s sovereignty,” he added.
