ALGIERS- The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) expressed its regret on Sunday regarding “the rise of violence in certain stadiums, a trend that tarnishes the image of our national sport.”
“These behaviors are completely unacceptable, and the Federation has zero tolerance for such acts, which it firmly condemns,” warned the federation in its statement, noting its refusal to remain passive in the face of shocking and horrifying scenes unfolding in certain stadiums, places that are supposed to be filled with joy, celebration, and fair play.
The Algerian Football Federation reiterated its call for unity within the football family to combat this scourge and prevent disruptive elements and repeat offenders from harming our discipline.
“It is imperative to put an end to these destructive behaviors to preserve the integrity of the game and the reputation of our sport,” insisted the FAF, stating its firm commitment to taking all necessary measures to eradicate this phenomenon and ensure that stadiums remain places of conviviality and mutual respect.
Furthermore, the FAF acknowledges the importance of promoting a positive environment in stadiums, where supporters can fully enjoy the football experience without fearing violence, and pledges to restore football as a source of entertainment, leisure, and cohesion within the Algerian youth.
“The FAF remains convinced that with the help of the football family, it can eradicate the scourge of violence in our stadiums and is determined to support all initiatives aimed at promoting fair play and respect in football,” reads the same document.
Finally, the FAF called on all stakeholders, especially the sports press, to contribute to promoting the noble values of sportsmanship.
