Algerian Government Meeting Focuses on Key Projects and Initiatives

ALGIERS- In a session chaired by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, the Algerian government convened in Algiers on Wednesday to deliberate on pivotal issues and projects in the realms of industry, agriculture, and railway development and transport.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, an overview of the progress in constructing the oilseed crushing complex in Jijel was presented during the meeting. The project is slated for completion by the end of the first semester of the current year, aligning with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to bring this project into operation to meet national market demands.

Additionally, a presentation on the monitoring of the plowing and sowing campaign for the 2023/2024 season was given. The statement highlighted the positive conditions of the campaign, especially following the implementation of new support measures for farmers decided by the Head of State during the government council meeting on October 1, 2023.

A third presentation focused on a research project developed by a team of researchers from the University of Sidi Bel Abbès. The project aims to treat wastewater using ozone for reuse in agricultural irrigation. The statement emphasized that additional studies are underway, particularly in the economic and environmental aspects of the project.
