According to an official statement released after the government meeting, the Prime Minister underscored “the high directives and instructions given by the President of the Republic during the last council of ministers meeting held on November 14, 2023, especially regarding the imperative to accelerate the implementation of decisions, particularly those of a social nature.”
The statement further highlighted Larbaoui’s emphasis on “the need to intensify efforts to accelerate the realization of the commitments made by the President of the Republic, emphasizing the fundamental importance of coordination between different sectors and the prioritized handling of relevant issues.”
During the previous council of ministers meeting, held just four days after Nadir Larbaoui’s appointment as Prime Minister, the Head of State provided clear directives to government members, urging them to “adopt the utmost speed in implementing decisions of the council of ministers that have not been realized or are delayed in execution.” The President instructed ministers to “intensify consultations on decisions impacting the major financial and budgetary balances of the state,” emphasizing the need to “accelerate the pace of implementation of the remaining programs and commitments,” particularly in the sectors of national education, knowledge economy, startups, and microenterprises.
Additionally, the President instructed ministers to “avoid exaggerated promises” and to ensure that “state support for disadvantaged and middle-class social classes remains at the center of government concerns.” These directives aim to better guide the executive action by infusing it with a new dynamic, and they seem to resonate quickly and fully with the Larbaoui government, which is gearing up for action in its very first meeting to expedite the realization of decisions and reform commitments initiated by the Head of State.
To concretely kickstart this new focus on speed and rigor in executing public policies, the government, in its meeting, examined five key draft executive decrees related to the implementation of the new law on the conditions and modalities for granting economic land for investment projects. This step aligns directly with the commitments recently made by the President during a meeting with economic operators, where he assured that the implementing texts of the new law on economic land would be ready within a month at the latest.
