Algiers, February 21, 2024 – The Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, has announced the imminent launch of the AADL3 program, aimed at providing 460,000 rental housing units as part of the 2024 Budget Law.

During a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, Minister Belaribi outlined the AADL program, which encompasses 630,000 housing units, including 55,000 units under the “AADL1” program and 575,000 units for the “AADL2” program. He emphasized that the AADL3 program would continue the trend of vertical construction due to limited land availability.

With the growing construction of high-rise residential complexes, the need for modern and secure elevators has become increasingly evident. Minister Belaribi revealed that 7,216 elevators were installed nationwide for various housing programs, including 1,525 for the AADL1 program. He emphasized the importance of replicating this approach for the AADL3 program.

Recognizing the necessity of modernizing elevator manufacturing capabilities in Algeria, both parties discussed the possibility of establishing elevator manufacturing units within the country. This initiative aims to go beyond mere assembly and focus on comprehensive elevator production.

In this regard, Minister Belaribi underscored the importance of bilateral partnerships between Algerian micro-enterprises and Italian companies to leverage their expertise, especially considering Algeria’s deficit in this area.

The minister proposed organizing meetings between Algerian elevator installation companies and Italian manufacturing firms to enhance bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The potential partnership holds promise for both countries, offering Algeria access to advanced elevator technology while providing Italy with opportunities for investment and collaboration in Algeria’s burgeoning housing sector.

As Algeria continues to prioritize the development of its housing infrastructure, initiatives like these underscore the government’s commitment to fostering innovation, technological advancement, and international cooperation for the benefit of its citizens.
