Algerian Lawyer Nadjib Bitam Makes Assertive Statements on Western Sahara Cause, National Defense

In a striking statement, Bitam highlighted that if Algeria genuinely pursued territorial ambitions, it could liberate Western Sahara within a mere 12 hours. He attributed this assertion to the perceived inadequacies and apprehensions of Moroccan military forces, suggesting that they are neither capable nor prepared to counter such an advance effectively. Reflecting on past wars, Bitam recounted the 1963 Moroccan military incursion, highlighting the resilience of Algerian fighters who, despite their exhaustion and injuries, successfully resisted Moroccan advances.

Turning to domestic politics, Bitam issued a passionate call for Algerians to actively engage in the forthcoming presidential elections. He urged the electorate to support candidates whose platforms resonate with their aspirations, stressing the importance of voter participation in shaping Algeria’s future.

“It is crucial for Algerians to cast their votes for candidates whose programs align with national goals,” Bitam said.

He praised the progress made over the past three years, asserting that Algeria has achieved more in this period than in the previous 30 years since its independence. Bitam urged continued support and commitment to national advancement, reflecting his belief in the need for ongoing political and social development.

On the subject of recent military exercises, Bitam provided a critical view of the portrayal of Algeria’s advanced weaponry and military preparedness. He commented on the drills conducted near Tindouf and Bechar, suggesting that some critics might dismiss these as exaggerated or superficial displays.

Bitam expressed admiration for General Saïd Chanegriha, praising his efforts in maintaining high morale and readiness within the Algerian People’s National Army.
