ALGIERS – In a historic move, Algerian lawyers take a stand against the atrocities in Gaza, presenting a comprehensive case at the ICC. Supported by an international coalition and spurred by President Tebboune’s call, this legal initiative seeks justice, human rights, and freedom for the Palestinian people, backed by evidence from credible sources and international legal bodies. The united front of legal professionals transcends borders, aiming to hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions in the pursuit of justice and lasting peace.
In detail, the National Union of Bar Associations informs the public that Algerian lawyers have filed a complaint at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on Friday at 3 p.m. The complaint is against the parties involved in the genocide committed in Gaza. It is based on documents, photos, and videos provided by credible and reliable sources in the Palestinian enclave. The legal action also relies on statements, decisions, and actions of high-ranking Zionist officials, demonstrating their intentions to carry out ethnic cleansing through mass killings and, at best, the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza.
The Algerian lawyers have further supported their complaint with documents and reports from UN agencies, as well as orders from the International Court of Justice issued on January 26, 2024, against the Zionist entity based on a complaint from South Africa.
The National Union of Bar Associations specifies that the ICC procedure was initiated following the recommendations of the Algiers Conference, which was endorsed by the 65,000 members of the Union, 6,300 judges affiliated with the National Syndicate of Magistrates, 14,000 lawyers from the Palestinian syndicate, 17,000 Jordanian lawyers, 9,170 Tunisian colleagues, and 387 Mauritanian lawyers.
These legal professionals of different nationalities constitute a collective that is prosecuting the Zionist entity before the international court. They responded to “President Tebboune’s call to free men to join this alliance, which aims to uphold justice, human rights, and freedom for the Palestinian people.”
