ALGIERS- In a powerful statement, Kaouther Krikou, Algeria’s Minister of National Solidarity, Family, and Women’s Affairs, strongly condemned the severe violations perpetrated by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people as a whole, with a particular emphasis on the plight of Palestinian women. She underscored that discussions around international and national efforts to combat violence against women cannot overlook the heinous violations endured by Palestinian women at the hands of the ruthless Zionist occupation.
The minister’s remarks came during her address at the International Forum on “Uzbekistan’s Experience and OIC Member States in Supporting Women,” held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Krikou passionately asserted that true commitment to opposing violence against women necessitates unequivocal condemnation of the gravest violations faced by Palestinian women under the Zionist occupation. She called attention to the ongoing atrocities, emphasizing that any discourse on women’s rights should actively address the harsh realities faced by Palestinian women.
Furthermore, Krikou utilized the platform to advocate for the involvement of women in peace processes and the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions. She urged for a comprehensive and inclusive approach that empowers women to actively contribute to peacebuilding and stability.
In light of the ongoing Zionist aggression targeting Gaza since October 7, Krikou expressed her condemnation of the despicable acts inflicted upon the Palestinian people, particularly women. She concluded her speech by reiterating the call of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to jurists and human rights organizations to initiate legal action against the Zionist entity at the International Criminal Court. Krikou urged all free nations worldwide to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, with a special emphasis on women who bear the brunt of such injustices.
