Algerian Minister of Industry Receives Stellantis El Djazaïr Officials to Discuss Fiat Project Progress

Algiers, Algeria | October 2nd, 2024 — In a meeting held on Tuesday, Algerian Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, met with Samir Cherfan, Director for Africa and the Middle East of the Stellantis Group, and Raoui Beji, CEO of Stellantis El Djazaïr. The discussion focused on the progress of the Fiat automobile manufacturing project in Algeria, according to a statement from the ministry.

The meeting, conducted at the ministry’s headquarters, aimed to assess the current state and advancements in the Fiat car production project in Algeria. Minister Aoun received a detailed briefing on the current production at the Oran plant, which employs over 1,100 workers and is set to launch a new model, the Fiat Doblo, by the end of this week.

Samir Cherfan highlighted the increased production pace at the plant, with a projected capacity of over 24,000 vehicles by the end of the year. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production in supporting the project’s goals.

Minister Aoun emphasized the importance of further increasing production volume to ensure an adequate supply of vehicles to Algerian citizens in a timely manner, the statement concluded.
