Algerian Minister Rekhroukh Meets Tunisian Counterpart to Bolster Bilateral Infrastructure Cooperation

Algiers, Algeria | December 19th, 2024 — In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties, Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, held a high-level meeting with Tunisia’s Minister of Equipment and Housing, Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, on the sidelines of the 41st session of the Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Council. The meeting, held on Wednesday at the Ministry’s headquarters, was initiated at the request of Minister Zenzri and attended by Tunisia’s Ambassador to Algeria, Ramdhane El Fayedh, along with senior officials from both ministries.
Expanding Bilateral Cooperation and Infrastructure Development
During the discussions, both parties explored avenues to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation in public works and infrastructure development. Key focus areas included the implementation of major joint infrastructure projects aimed at optimizing transportation networks and facilitating smoother mobility across borders.
A central theme of the talks was the integration of Algerian and Tunisian enterprises through collaborative projects in the construction of roads and highways. Minister Rekhroukh highlighted Algeria’s extensive experience and expertise in executing complex infrastructure projects, particularly in railway construction and guided transportation systems.
The ministers also emphasized the critical importance of capacity building within the public works sector. Both sides agreed on the necessity of implementing initiatives to enhance the training and development of skilled professionals, thereby fostering a robust foundation for future collaboration in infrastructure projects.
