ALGIERS- The Ministry of National Defense (MDN) announced in a statement released on Wednesday significant operational achievements, including the arrest of a terrorist and two individuals providing support to terrorist groups in Bordj Badji Mokhtar.
These arrests were made during operations conducted by units of the Algerian People’s National Army (ANP) across several provinces of the country from March 27th to April 2nd.
Additionally, during the same period, ANP forces successfully apprehended 33 drug traffickers and thwarted attempts to smuggle 14 quintals and 64 kilograms of processed cannabis (kif) across the borders with Morocco, according to the MDN.
The collaborative efforts of ANP units and various security services also led to the seizure of 235,386 psychotropic tablets, underscoring Algeria’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and illegal drug distribution.
These achievements reflect the ANP’s unwavering dedication to maintaining national security and combating terrorism, drug trafficking, and other illicit activities. The MDN commended the professionalism and effectiveness of the ANP and its collaborative partners in safeguarding Algeria’s borders and protecting its citizens.
Algeria reaffirms its commitment to continued vigilance and decisive action against all threats to national security, emphasizing the importance of ongoing cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the military to ensure the safety and well-being of the Algerian people.
