Algerian, Nigerien Prime Ministers Discuss Bilateral Relations, Cooperation

Algiers, Algeria | August 12th, 2024 — On Monday, Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui hosted Nigerien Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine at the Government Palace in Algiers. During their meeting, Prime Minister Larbaoui conveyed the Algerian government’s dedication to fortifying ties with Niger. Larbaoui highlighted Algeria’s support for Niger’s growth and stability, aligning with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision for a more robust partnership.

In response, Prime Minister Zeine expressed appreciation for Algeria’s ongoing support, particularly in light of President Tebboune’s opposition to military intervention in Niger. Zeine acknowledged Algeria’s positive role during Niger’s challenging times and reiterated his country’s commitment to strengthening the partnership. He highlighted the mutual benefits of collaborative projects and expressed enthusiasm for deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors, aiming to bolster Niger’s sovereignty and achieve its development goals.

Prime Minister Zeine was warmly welcomed at Houari Boumediene International Airport by Prime Minister Larbaoui. The reception was attended by several key Algerian officials, including Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion Tayeb Zitouni, and Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defense.
