ALGIERS- Brahim Boughali, Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (APN), has departed from Algiers to Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, on Friday. He is entrusted by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to represent him at the funeral ceremony of Namibian President Hage Geingob, scheduled for the 24th and 25th of the current month at the Independence Stadium.

According to a statement from the lower house of Parliament, Brahim Boughali will convey President Tebboune’s condolences and solidarity to the Namibian people during their time of mourning. President Hage Geingob passed away on February 4 at the age of 82 after battling a prolonged illness.

Upon learning of his counterpart’s demise, President Tebboune swiftly conveyed a message to the Namibian people, expressing heartfelt condolences for the loss. In his message, the Algerian President extended his sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased and the friendly Namibian people, affirming Algeria’s solidarity with them during this period of grief. The statement released by the Presidency of the Republic emphasized that President Geingob’s passing is not only a loss for Namibia but also for the entire African continent, as he was a prominent leader and advocate against colonialism and apartheid.

Brahim Boughali’s presence at the funeral ceremony underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Namibia and honoring the memory of President Geingob. His representation exemplifies the solidarity and support extended by Algeria to its African counterparts during times of sorrow and adversity.
