Algerian Premier Larbaoui Holds Talks with Senegalese President and OIC Secretary-General
Discussions Focus on Strengthening Bilateral Ties and Enhancing OIC's Role

Banjul, May 4, 2024 – During the official opening of the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Banjul, the Gambian capital, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui held a meeting with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, as announced by the Prime Minister’s office.
In their discussion, Larbaoui conveyed the congratulations of the President of the Republic to President Faye on his election and reaffirmed Algeria’s strong commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
In response, President Faye expressed his fraternal greetings and sincere gratitude to the President of the Republic, expressing his eagerness to meet him in the near future.
Furthermore, Larbaoui engaged in talks with the Secretary-General of the OIC, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, where they examined the main agenda items of the summit and explored strategies to activate the organization’s role in advocating for the causes of the Muslim world, with particular emphasis on the Palestinian cause.
The Prime Minister stressed the necessity for comprehensive reform within the organization to empower it in addressing multifaceted challenges and effectively confronting threats.
These meetings underscore Algeria’s dedication to strengthening its relationships with its African and Islamic counterparts and its proactive involvement in promoting cooperation and solidarity within the OIC framework.
