Algerian Premier Larbaoui Meets Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to Advance Bilateral Cooperation

Algeria, January 16, 2024– In a significant diplomatic encounter, Algerian Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui welcomed the special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier Liu Guozhong at the Government Palace in Algiers on Tuesday. Vice Premier Liu Guozhong is on a working visit to Algeria to follow up on and implement agreements reached during President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to China in July 2023.
The meeting, as outlined in a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, included an evaluation of the current state of relations and partnerships between Algeria and China. Both parties emphasized the positive progress in their bilateral ties, particularly in the realm of economic cooperation. The importance of enhancing the strategic partnership, especially in terms of investments, was highlighted during the discussions.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune also received Vice Premier Liu Guuzhong on Tuesday. The audience took place in the presence of Boualem Boualem, Director of the Cabinet of the Presidency, Tarek Belaribi, Minister of Housing, Urbanism, and the City, and Lounes Magramane, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad.
The discussions during the meeting covered various aspects of the Algeria-China relationship, focusing on mutual cooperation and exploring opportunities for further collaboration. The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their ties and foster economic, political, and strategic partnerships.
