Algerian Premier Larbaoui Presides Over Mawlid Ennabawi Celebration at Djamaâ El-Djazaïr: A Tribute to the Prophet’s Legacy

Algiers, Algeria | September 16th, 2024 — In an event marked by deep spiritual significance, Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, led the Mawlid Ennabawi celebrations at the iconic Djamaâ El-Djazaïr. The occasion commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and reflects the profound reverence for his life and teachings in Algeria.
The ceremony, which began with the Maghreb prayer, was attended by prominent figures including Youcef Belmehdi, Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, and Brahim Merad, Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities, and Regional Planning. This year’s celebration, held for the first time in this monumental mosque, also drew the participation of respected imams, scholars from Algeria’s renowned Zaouïas, and distinguished Qur’an reciters.
During his sermon, Mohamed Maâmoun Al Kacimi Al Hassani, the rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr, delivered a heartfelt reflection on the life and message of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He emphasized the spiritual and moral dimensions of the Prophet’s legacy, underlining the significance of Mawlid Ennabawi as a moment to not only honor the Prophet’s life but also to reaffirm the core human values that define Islam.
“The Mawlid is one of the blessed occasions where we celebrate the exemplary life of the Prophet Muhammad while highlighting the humane and ethical principles of our faith,” the rector noted during his address.
The evening’s program also featured a collective recitation of the Holy Qur’an, accompanied by religious chants celebrating the Prophet’s virtues. The culmination of the event was a prestigious ceremony recognizing the outstanding Qur’an reciters who triumphed in the President of the Republic’s competition, a symbol of Algeria’s deep-rooted tradition of Qur’anic scholarship.
This celebration, imbued with spiritual fervor, stood as a testament to the nation’s dedication to preserving its Islamic heritage and honoring the Prophet’s timeless teachings.
