Algerian President Tebboune at Bahrain Summit: “A Unified and Resilient Arab Nation Essential for Advancing the Palestinian Cause”

Algiers- Algeria, May 16, 2024 – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized, on Thursday, the vital necessity of a unified and resilient Arab nation, particularly amidst the current endeavor to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, which stands as a just, sustainable, and definitive solution to the Arab-Zionist conflict. He underscored Algeria’s persistent endeavors since its inception as a member of the Security Council, to amplify the prominence of the Palestinian cause on the global stage, notably within the United Nations Security Council.
In an address conveyed by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, during the opening of the 33rd session of the Arab Summit in Manama, Bahrain, President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s steadfast commitment to elevating the Palestinian cause to a paramount position on the international agenda, with a specific emphasis on the Security Council. He reiterated Algeria’s unwavering endeavors to garner international support for the Palestinian cause, a commitment that has persisted since its admission into the Security Council.
Against the backdrop of a convoluted international and regional milieu, President Tebboune acknowledged the existential perils confronting the Arab region, particularly the dire circumstances in Gaza and the broader challenges encumbering the Palestinian cause. He lamented the stasis afflicting multilateral international frameworks, such as the United Nations and the Security Council, and its adverse ramifications on global peace, security, and development.
Furthermore, President Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian cause and its resolute determination to confront the ongoing hostilities and humanitarian crises in Gaza. He advocated for collective endeavors aimed at attaining a just and sustainable resolution to the conflict, emphasizing the imperative of establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state devoid of any prerequisites.
